18th century castle and 126 acres enclosed park for sale in Suisse Normande

18th century castle and 126 acres enclosed park for sale in Suisse Normande

Property to restore sold in Normandy

Ref. 4021: This 18th century chateau and its 126 acres of enclosed parklands in need of restoration were sold by Le Nail in Suisse Normande.

In its heyday, the château had approx. 1,000 sqm of living space spread over 4 stories, including a cellar and attic space. Next to the château was a superb chapel, and further away was the sports and leisure centre with a good-sized swimming pool and 2 "quick" tennis courts, an orangery-style pool house and an 18-hole golf course beautifully laid out over the 126 acres of the estate. The property was designed to cater for events, and it was essential to offer a complete package, which took shape with the installation of 25 fully-equipped wooden chalets.
2 other outbuildings, one of which was used as a home, suggested the presence of a steward in charge of maintenance, surveillance and security.
The more beautiful the past, the sadder the present...

The property has suffered 15 years of total abandonment, leaving it open to widespread pillage; much malice and inconsistent behaviour have led to the almost systematic deterioration of every area.
Most of the grounds is in one piece. Apart from undergrowth and scrub, there are numerous species of trees (chestnut, Douglas fir, hornbeam, eucalyptus, etc.) arranged in the English style.  A pond with a cadastral surface area of around 4,000 sqm remains at the bottom of the parklands, the only identified watering place on the property.
