Ref.3550 : Chateau for sale in Normandy.

The chateau is located in the East of the department of Calvados, in natural land of the Pays d'Auge, overlooking the Touques valley, whose river flows peacefully towards Deauville. All shops and services are accessible in Lisieux (25,000 inhabitants), a five-minute drive from the property.
The chateau consists of 3 main parts:
In the north, the stone Henri IV postern surmounted by bricks with its dual-use drawbridge.
In the South, the stone dwelling house topped with timber on 3 levels.
In the East, a large central building on 2 levels.
The whole is flanked at each corner of 4 stone towers configuring an elegant court of honor.
The living space is approximately 1200 sqm distributed as follows:

      The Dwelling house :
On the ground floor: entrance with marble floor and staircase with balusters, large living room with marble floor, stone fireplace and elm Louis XV wood paneling, dining room with marble floor and decorated with wood paneling, small Louis XV lounge with marble fireplace and wood paneling buffet, modern kitchen, utility room, service staircase, cloakroom and wc.

On the 1st floor: 7 bedrooms, 4 with shower room or bathroom/wc and 2 with independent access to the bathrooms/wc. The bedrooms are served by a long corridor. Most of them have beautifully painted wood paneling and terracotta tiled floors.
On the 2nd floor: 2 bedrooms (1 with shower), 2 attics.
      The central building:
Large 18th-century gallery with stone floor, fleeing to a small summer lounge (19th-century style), large summer lounge where preside at each end 2 superb Prussian stoves from the 17th century, access to one of the corner towers by stone spiral staircase, small reading room, large bedroom upstairs, Gothic lounge (former Masonic Lodge).
      The postern:
The postern entrance is surmounted by 2 floors:
On the 1st level: 2 bedrooms separated by a bathroom/wc.
On the 2nd level: a large bedroom with fireplace and Versailles parquet floor.
      The outbuildings comprise:
      1) The "Jeannine's house", half-timbered under tiles. With a surface area of about 200 sqm on 2 levels, it is composed of 8 main rooms including 4 bedrooms upstairs. It is currently occupied as a "caretaker's house".
      2) Large half-timbered dependence used as a garage for 4 cars and workshop, attic on the whole.
      3) Small one room house without a specific use.
      4) Orangery with heated wood sides. In winter, it shelters the fragile plants and allows the vine to prosper.
      5) Large greenhouse restored in 1990 with a vocation to provide the necessary plants to the park.
      6) Small half-timbered garden shed formerly the peacocks shed.
      7) Outbuilding housing a former press room/woodshed.
      2 floors suitable for conversion.
      8) 19th-century chapel of consecrated neo-Gothic style.
      Perfectly restored and furnished.
The property is surrounded by a park of about 27 acres (11 ha), whose most of the design was entrusted to the famous Achille Duchesne from 1920. The landscape architect Georges Hayat will bring many additional arrangements. The current owners will take over, borrow a strong Italian inspiration, in the pure respect of the immutable rules of geometry, colors, and perspective.
On the way, we walk in the middle of many theme gardens, mostly wrapped in box trees and yew topiaries, sometimes weigh up with magnificent blue cedars, red oaks, linden trees, purple beech, yew or white cherry... for some between them secular.
The flowers are not left behind (roses, dahlias, sage, peonies shrubs...). Thus are declined, the garden of the topiaries and its Chinese pavilion, the Italian Renaissance garden, the Japanese garden, the butterfly garden, without forgetting the temple of Solomon.
The basin or "mirror" is attributed to Achille Duchesne, was created around 1930, in place of a massive flower. Surrounded by beautiful Florentine hedges, this large pond remains under the supervision of a beautiful marble statue with a dolphin's head, just like its "water-spitting" other dolphin.
