With its purchase in 2003 by the current owners, the castle has had only its fourth owner in 500 years.
The castle stands on a small granite plateau surrounded by a moat, which a drawbridge spans.
The castle consists of a rectangular residential part to which a round tower and a square tower are added on the north side, while on the south side, flanked by an overhanging turret at one end, the wing housing the vaulted staircase with its sloping barrel vault represents a certain taste for the grandiose sought after in the 16th century.
The interior was fitted out in the 18th and 19th centuries. This granite building has perfectly preserved its original layout (late 15th and 16th centuries) despite some additions in the 19th century.
The latest owners have restored it entirely, and this restoration is a masterpiece of respect for history and integration of modernity.
One can see on the facades the interventions that restored its integrity. The double mullioned windows, the few rare coats of arms, the pavements, the new roof, seem to have been cleaned for 500 years.
However, the entrance door leads, via a large renaissance-style staircase built in a square tower after the construction, to a cosy lounge that is warmed by a monumental fireplace.
On all floors, tapestries, woodwork and ceilings have been redone with strict respect for the reversibility of the restorations. The castle's wounds have not been hidden, they have been cared for, leaving the scars to tell its story.
A large number of 15th and 16th century elements have been preserved, which does not detract from the atmosphere and charm of the place.
