Ref.4036 : Beautiful 16th and 19th C. chateau in Maine area (Mayenne department).
The château is located in Mayenne, on the edge of Haut-Anjou, 260 km from Paris by motorway. Located in, it is said in Abbé Angot's dictionary, "One of the coolest valleys of the Vaiges river". Indeed, this place of countryside, undulating, wooded, calmed by the flow of the river, is really peaceful.
The TGV station of Sablé sur Sarthe (Paris-Nantes-Angers) is 13 km away. The first shops are provided by the small neighbouring village 3 km away (mini-market, bakery)

The chateau was therefore built and modified in successive periods, with the part of the staircase and spiral tower and its attached pavilion clearly being the historic part. The rest of the castle was rebuilt in the 19th century, partly in the neo-Gothic style.

It comprises
on the ground floor: a large entrance hall, main living room with fireplace and wooded ceiling, study, dining room, large kitchen and service and technical rooms (staff dining room, pantry, boiler room) wc.

On the first floor, accessed by the straight oak staircase with balusters or the spiral staircase, there are 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, wc and dressing rooms.

Above, attic, 2 bedrooms with toilet or shower room and a two-room flat.

The surface area is thought to be around 550sqm (not measured).
Finally, the castle is not as large as it appears in the picture, an effect certainly desired by the 19th century architect who intervened recently.

Cellar under the part of the two pavilions .

Imposing stone building, all in symmetry, recalling the importance given to saddle horses and carriage horses. This building is empty and has large volumes and a floor surface area of around 300-350sqm per floor.
Other small buildings bear witness to the food-producing activity of the area: wood shed, equipment shed, pigsty, poultry house, staff accommodation and probably a bread oven. One of these buildings has been converted into a recreation room, refurbished, around a wood-burning stove. This place is a dream of the human activity of the time and the potential for development that these buildings represent.
Away from the house, a lodge, i.e. a cart shed which also provided shelter for a few cows.
A two-car garage and a small workshop in a breeze-block building, close to the castle, not very aesthetic despite its convenience.

As we said, the park, which is made up of extensive meadows, is part of an environment of such beautiful quality beyond our borders. Even the access road is not tarmacked, it is made of dammed materials, which shows the authenticity of the place. A tennis court was recently built in the walled vegetable garden. There is a cider orchard. The total surface area of the land is about 40.64 acres (16.45 ha), free to rent.

Land taxes: about 3.400 €.
The owner indicates a lifestyle of 25 to 30.000 € per year to pay for maintenance, taxes, insurance, small works, not being able to do some things himself.
