This beautiful region, in the Indre département, is part of the Brenne Regional Nature Park, a mosaic of landscapes where water, woods, moors and meadows alternate.

This land of a thousand ponds is well known for its unspoilt nature and its countless ponds, which are visited twice a year by large flights of migratory birds. A wetland of international importance, the region is one of the largest continental areas of its kind in France, with around 3,000 ponds.

An exceptional area for its biodiversity, the Brenne is the leading French settlement area for the European pond terrapin, a freshwater turtle classified as "near-threatened". It is also home to many species of mammal, bird and dragonfly.

From a hunting point of view, the Brenne is an ideal area for hunting waterfowl, with 25 of the 38 huntable species present. It is also renowned for the quality of its big game.

Already present on the Cassini map, the pond is a well-known site in the Brenne. After being left to dry out in the 19th century, it was restored and reopened to water in the early 1990s.

The land covers a total area of 109.74 acres, broken down as follows:

approximately 7 acres of woodland and coppice
45 acres of land and heath

This open-water pond, fed by a small river, and its surrounding area offer fishing opportunities and hunting grounds for waterfowl, mainly mallard, as well as big game.
