Ref.3912 : Magnificent chateau for sale 30 km from Chambord.
This exceptional castle is built in the Grande Sologne region, on the border of the wine-growing Sologne, the bocage plateaus of the Touraine Méridionale and the Berry. It stands in the middle of a private and preserved forest that is not disturbed by any easement. A village offering the first services and shops of necessity is 5.5 km away. Romorantin-Lanthenay, capital of the Sologne region and a resource town (SNCF train station), is 16 km away. The towns of Blois and Vierzon are respectively 35 km and 45 km from the property and have excellent road and rail links as well as a wide range of services.

Built at the end of the 15th century by the architect Jacques de Persigny for Lord Philippe du Moulin as a reward for having saved the life of King Charles VIII during the Battle of Fornoue in 1495, this castle has a quadriform plan, surrounded by a moat and flanked by circular towers at each of its corners.
It consists of two buildings, the dwelling and the manor house, which are accessed by a drawbridge, now dormant, defended by an entrance gatehouse with a postern and flanked by two towers.

THE LODGE :
With a living area of approx. 420sqm, the dwelling is arranged around a central stairway situated in the square tower. It spans 5 stories as follows:
Ground floor: lounge with monumental stone fireplace, painted beams, dining room with monumental sculpted stone fireplace, chapel, pantry with service stairway to the basement;
First floor: bedroom with adjoining bathroom and wc, library, toilet and wc;
On the 2nd floor: 2 bedrooms with monumental stone fireplace and adjoining bathroom or toilet and wc;
On the 3rd floor: corridor leading to 3 bedrooms, one of which has a cathedral ceiling, storage room, bathroom with toilet, separate toilet;
In the basement: dining room, kitchen, boiler room, pantry with service staircase.

THE MANOR :
The manor house, although it has retained certain defensive elements from the Middle Ages such as crossbars, machicolations and barbicans, is betrayed by the presence of mullioned windows and worked dormers, which characterise a Renaissance residence. It is distributed as follows:
Ground floor: library with fireplace, stone slab floor, spiral staircase in the tower, guard room with monumental stone fireplace and pointed ceiling, boiler room in the corner tower;
1st floor: bedroom, toilet with WC, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, other room in the tower.
Second floor: above the entrance châtelet only: bedroom with fireplace, bathroom and toilet in the right tower of the châtelet;
3rd floor: above the entrance châtelet only: bedroom with cathedral roof, bathroom and toilet in the right tower of the châtelet.

The outbuildings face the entrance châtelet and form a U-shaped courtyard.
They comprise :
A half-timbered, polychrome brick caretaker's cottage with flat tiles comprising: dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, bathroom with toilet, another room with a single access from the outside. Above, attic with 3 rooms suitable for conversion. Basement under part. Water, electricity and heating by means of a wood-burning stove are present.

A house known as the "vegetable garden", built of bricks under tiles, comprising various rooms for storing equipment, vegetable store and garage. Attic above.

Former stables with 6 stalls and a garage that could house several cars. Above, 9 bedrooms, most of which have a toilet, a bathroom. Electricity, water and heating are present in this building, but work will be necessary to make it habitable.

Behind these 3 main buildings are :
A building, housing fruit trees, a honey house and a laundry, adjoining the vegetable garden house.
A laundry.
An orangery.

Harmoniously distributed around the castle, the grounds are mainly composed of forest and a few meadows that protect the site. Numerous paths and small private footpaths make it easy to stroll around. In the park, the vegetable garden with its numerous flowerbeds adds a more delicate dimension to the property.
This beautiful ensemble perfectly illustrates the picture that is painted of our beloved Sologne as an undisputed reserve of biodiversity, which offers peace and serenity where one can escape in complete tranquillity between forests and waterholes.
The whole, subject to a simple management plan, has a total surface area of almost 98.8 acres (40 hectares) in one piece, which is not disturbed by any easement.
